Start Your Engines!

Wow - it's May already....and we're ready to streak again for Pediatric Stroke Awareness month.  We hope you'll join us in doing something every day that you don't want to do - just as Noah and other little kids like him have to do.  This year, I will return to running everyday during the month with an added twist - I will run an organized 5k race at the end of the month (specific race TBD)!  Susan will eat one meal per day with her left hand and run/walk every day during the month herself!  And - as usual - we will update this blog everyday....we always have the best intentions of updating this during the rest of the year (sorry Anita!), but hey, life happens.  We'll be setting up a page through the CHASA (http://www.chasa.org/) site shortly to raise money for families like ours that are less fortunate than we are - we hope you'll consider donating again this year!

And we feel like we are doing well...managing to keep up with a hectic schedule (but, that's not different than anyone else!).  Noah goes to daycare ("school") 4 days per week while Susan is off on Tuesdays and gets to spend those days with him.  He has PT 3 times per week, OT 2 times per week, speech therapy once per week and aqua therapy twice per week.  He has still has a brace on his right ankle/calf (called an "AFO") which helps primarily in putting his foot in the right position as he walks pretty well without it, too.  He continues to have trouble with fine-motor skills with his right hand, but he's making slow progress and, most encouraging to me, he is starting to actually want to use it more.  His speech is actually right on track, from what we understand, but the part of his brain that is responsible for speech was impacted and we were offered the service so we took it.

That's it for now - we'll have 31 more posts over the next 31 days to update you further.  Thanks for your continued love and support - and please consider streaking, donating, or both!
