May 15, 2011 - Halfway Through the Streak

Here we are - halfway through the month of May. We've each kept up our streaks and I can safely say that there is no way we would ever let them lapse. Today, we actually took a family run - at least until I almost passed out and had to head back home with Noah while Susan continued on a ways.

We also headed down to see our good friends Pete, Jen and their 3 kids (and another on the way)! It was really good to see them - had been too long. Noah had a whole host of new toys to play with at their house - but he didn't seem to want to use his right arm at all. Just as we had been so excited last night - today was somewhat upsetting in that regard. How quickly things can change. However, he was his usual happy, smiley self and we enjoyed the afternoon. That said - just when you think progress is being made - you realize this is going to be a long, hard battle and we're nowhere near being halfway to anywhere.

Happy official birthday to Noah's Aunt Elise...

  1. we loved having you guys down -- it was wonderful to see you guys. you're right, it had been too long!

to boost your spirits a little, we just loved the little guy, and commented between us last night at how great he was...just another kid hanging in the house on a rainy day. I think that he did fantastic in a new situation; he came to new faces with ease, he dealt with the chaos of a 5,4, 2 year old in his face, and he explored new toys and a new environment. I wasn't completely focused on it but I saw him reach for rowan with his right hand...grab the baby giraffe...and the one time he did cry for a second, he reached out w both arms for someone to save him :) these may be baby steps, but steps in the right direction.

I know that it may seem like a long road, but he's got great parents behind him, rooting him on every day. that alone will put him ahead of the pack..
